Latest post (link in profile) is about the White Desert in Egypt and why you should visit. Especially if you're looking for something beyond the usual tourist circuit.
Our time in Portugal was the closest thing to a ty Our time in Portugal was the closest thing to a typical vacation I'd had in a long time: starting the day with nothing on the agenda, leisurely coffee, indulgent lunches, followed by lazy afternoon strolls... I can get used to this.

Heh, who am I kidding? 😂😂

We've been taking advantage of what so far has bee We've been taking advantage of what so far has been a pretty mild winter in CO. Our first CO summits: Sniktau and Cupid, both 13ers but pretty mellow as far as summit goes 😊 - pretty lucky with the weather too.
Throwback to my time flying solo in Kyrgyzstan, th Throwback to my time flying solo in Kyrgyzstan, the beginning of my love affair with the region, a place I can keep going back again and again if only it were easier to get to.

This was also the beginning of my realization that I get quite lonely going on trekking expeditions by myself - even when I go with a guide. I find it more rewarding to share the experience with new friends and how we always end up supporting each other through the hardest parts. It's something in my mind lately as I'm planning this year's travels.

It's interesting to notice how my preferences and style and types of experience I seek have evolved throughout the years. There's no right way to travel, just your own way.

Ive been in Pakistan for over a week now and the o Ive been in Pakistan for over a week now and the only thing I can say is, "Wow, what a country!" - I've stepped foot on my tallest summit yet (17.5k ft), been given a surprise welcome reception where a whole village shower up, eaten a lifetime supply of dals and apricots, and more. I'll try to post more on Story now that Im back in cities - albeit still with very limited internet - so follow along if you haven't already.

"Can you believe this view?!" - the San Juan Mount "Can you believe this view?!" - the San Juan Mountains in Colorado is quickly becoming our go-to outdoor playgrounds. Ouray and Silverton so get busy in the summer but getting away from the crowds is easy. We only encountered one other party on this trail on July 4th weekend.
New blog post is up. Link is in the bio.

2 am wake up call, hours of navigating loose class 2 am wake up call, hours of navigating loose class 3 in the dark, breathing hard as you fight altitude sickness... As I get older I don't sign up for type-2 fun as much, but when I do, I hope to have a good crew to do it with. When you travel with a group of strangers, it can be a bit of crap shoot. But I got lucky in Pakistan and found myself among a group of good people to share the misery and the victories with.
